2025: Celebrating a Year of Excellence
Reflecting on an incredible year of recognition for Lawpath, from winning the Smart50 Innovator Award to being finalists at the Australian AI Awards and Startup Daily Best in Tech.
As 2025 draws to a close, we’re taking a moment to reflect on what has been an extraordinary year for Lawpath. It’s been a year of growth, but also of recognition for the work our team has been doing to transform how Australians access legal services.
This year, we were honoured to receive recognition across three major Australian technology and business awards, each highlighting different aspects of what makes Lawpath special.
Smart50 Innovator Award
We’re proud to announce that Lawpath was named the Innovator Award winner at the 2025 Smart50 Awards.
The Smart50 Awards recognise Australia’s fastest-growing small and medium enterprises, and the Innovator Award specifically celebrates businesses pushing boundaries with new technology and approaches.
Our AI-powered platform, which helps small businesses create legal documents, review contracts, and navigate complex legal jargon, was highlighted as a game-changer for Australian SMEs. To date, we’ve:
- Serviced over 600,000 businesses
- Saved an estimated $100 million in compliance costs compared to traditional advisory services
- Made legal guidance accessible to entrepreneurs who previously couldn’t afford it
As our co-founders Dom Woolrych and Tom Willis noted, this is just the beginning. We’re continuing to integrate accounting capabilities to make Lawpath an even more powerful resource for Australian businesses.
Australian AI Awards Finalist
Lawpath was named a finalist in the AI Innovator: Legal Services Provider category at the 2025 Australian AI Awards.
We were also thrilled to see our own Tran Nhut Le nominated for AI Software Engineer of the Year, a testament to the exceptional engineering talent driving our platform forward.
Being recognised alongside major legal technology providers validates the work we’ve been doing to bring sophisticated AI capabilities to small business legal needs. Our contract review AI, which can decipher legal jargon and provide actionable feedback, represents the kind of innovation that’s making legal services more accessible than ever.
Startup Daily Best in Tech
At the Startup Daily Best in Tech Awards 2025, our Head of Engineering Sumith Jitta was named Best Technical Leader.
With two decades of experience spanning AI, data architecture, and enterprise platforms, Sumith has led Lawpath’s evolution from a promising startup into a scalable, AI-driven legal infrastructure engine powering more than 500,000 Australian businesses.
What sets Sumith apart is his ability to bridge engineering with empathy. He leads a team of over 30 engineers, product designers, and data scientists with a calm clarity, unblocking complexity while fostering a culture of innovation and integrity.
This recognition is a testament to the engineering culture Sumith has built at Lawpath, and we couldn’t be prouder to have him leading our technical vision.
What This Means for Our Team
Awards are wonderful recognition, but what matters most is the impact we’re having. Every business we help navigate a shareholder agreement, every entrepreneur who can finally understand their contracts, every founder who doesn’t have to choose between legal protection and paying rent: that’s why we do this work.
To our engineering team: these awards are a reflection of your technical superpowers. The systems you build, the AI you train, the infrastructure you maintain. It all adds up to something that genuinely helps people.
To our customers: thank you for trusting us with your legal needs. Your feedback drives everything we build.
Looking Ahead to 2026
We’re not slowing down. The coming year will bring:
- Deeper AI capabilities for contract analysis
- New integrations to streamline business compliance
- Expanded services to support even more aspects of running a business
Here’s to continuing to build the future of legal tech, together.
